Summer News Letter

Summer Tips from Susan...

Summer is here! The weather has finally warmed up in SoCal! Now is the time to re-define the bedroom. Sometimes duvets can be too warm for this time of the year. A light linen coverlet with a linen top sheet is perfect for these warmer nights. We have been busy here at Blue Springs bringing in a new collection of light weight, sophisticated blankets and throws.
Here are some of the new pieces we have introduced for Summer.

New from Selfte are blankets and throws in organic natural fabrics that are soft and beautiful for this time of year.

SDH and Bella Notte have wonderful selections of coverlets to choose from. Showing lighter colors for summer, these lines also have more vivid colors to choose from.

Satin and lace can look beautiful on a bed mixed with linen pillows and sheets.

Brahms Mount are 100% linen coverlets and cotton throws that are made here in the good ole USA. The long cotton fringe look pretty hanging at the end of the bed.

Shown in "Cinnamon," this Brahms Mount throw blanket really brings out the color in these new vintage pillows.

Detail of the braided fringe. Sometimes all you need is a new throw blanket to give a fresh new look. These blankets also look fab on the sofa and they're machine washable.

New vintage pillows with coral look good on this natural colored bed.

Red looks great in the summer. This bed looks fresh and inviting. The pillows are vintage and the coverlet is a red and oatmeal colored cotton weave. Perfect weight for the summer nights.

Stripes add a little something fun. Love this collection!

New vintage kantha blankets from India. So many things can be done with these colorful one-of-a-kind works of art. I just took one home and threw it over a small sofa for a burst of color.

Colors range from bright greens to purples, pinks and aqua. You will be amazed at how they brighten up any room. Also they make great table coverings.

This pair of Suzani's just came in. A new line of bedding we will be getting called Signoria di Firenze will look fabulous with these pillows. These new coverlets should be arriving next week. Modern styles in black, orange and bright greens.

Pink is always a Summer favorite.

New vintage pillows in deep blues and black details.

Brighten up your bed or sofa with any of these vintage pillows. I guarantee you will be delighted!

Color, stripes, prints and textures!

New vintage crystal chandelier is a sure head turner.

Lisa is helping me change the bed. We change them every week, sometimes even more often. When something new comes in we can't wait to show it off.

It takes two people to change and create the new bed. We have so many options sometimes it's hard to decide what to put on it, but it's always fun!

This bed has a Matteo coverlet in "Earth" with a Brahms Mount throw at the end with blacks and grays. The euros at the top are Matteo in "off white." We added a velvet pillow mixed with a crocheted gray pillow for lots of texture.

You can be versatile with a bed like this by changing out the top pillows and the throw at the end of the bed. The patchwork throw at the end is called "Sofia" by Bella Notte.

We have wonderful new linen and cotton sheets from all our bedding lines in stock right now!

New coverlets and throw blankets are coming in daily. We have so many wonderful collections to help you create your summer bed. Come see us and see what's new!

Dinner for Two

Romantic Dinner for Two..

Create an intimate setting for two for a special dinner.

First let's start from the beginning. We wanted to use a round table because it seems more intimate and cozy. This garden table was actually from the backyard. You can use any kind of table for a prop, including square or rectangular.

No round table cloth available, so we're going to have to improvise with this wonderful old linen bed cover.

Drape it so it's even on all sides. One side may not be as long as the other. Just be creative and it will work!

Now that we have our table draped it's time to set the table.

This old linen cloth is so beautiful. It also looks good at the end of a bed.

You can play around with other layers of old fabric. Shown is an old burlap sack.

We decided to use old raffia placemats to keep the linen cloth clean.

The blue and white is old French China. You can add all kinds of center pieces. Shown is a piece of drift wood. Always add flowers from your backyard and don't forget the candles (unscented of course). Keep it simple but make it pretty with things that you already have.

Voila! You will have your created your own little intimate dining area. Pretend you're in the South of France!

Adding a piece of ironstone always makes it special.

You can do the same in the yard or patio.

Using what you have on hand, start draping and layering interesting fabrics.

This table looks a little bohemian with the tie-dyed fabric. Add some fun pillows. Pillows shown are from vintage fabrics.

We're using our old ironstone china. The Indigo blue really makes it pop! A small cutting from your bouganvilla vine is all you need for a pop of color.

Blue and white striped rug is from the new Magdalena York collection. We have about twenty different color variations at Blue Springs Home.

Turn the fountain on during dinner and enjoy the ambience!

These outdoor rugs also work well inside too!

Our new Magdalena York vinyl rugs from Sweden. Durable and stylish.

Front window at Blue Springs Home showing pinks and blues by John Robshaw. Large body pillow is vintage Suzani.

Vintage 1930's-40's era green komono.

Looks good!

Quilt in the middle is an old Kantha in beautiful blues and pink colors. We paired it with Bella Notte pillows in the "Ginger" color and popped it with Bella Notte pillows in "Ocean." Very European looking!

This bed is done in vintage pinks mixed with John Robshaw prints.

Vintage fabric from the Ivory Coast in Africa. Fantastic teal colors. Would look great on a white sofa.
