The Versatile Kantha Quilt
These vintage Indian Kantha Quilts are made from old silk saris. Each one is unique and all hand stitched. Even the bright patches add a touch of personality to these wonderful old fabrics.
Let's look at ways to use these works of art. Start with a simple little love seat..
This is one of my favorite Kanthas. I love this one because it has green on one side and the other side is totally opposite with dark browns and oranges!
Which side to use? Go by the season. Green works best for Summer. It's light and airy and the green matches all my succulents.
It's actually prettier than the picture shows. I love the asymmetrical green stripe on the left.
Add a simple pillow. This is an old grain sack with a blue stripe.
This is the reverse side of the Kantha shown above. Totally different, but just as much fun.
I'm going to save this side for Fall.
Throw a colorful ethnic pillow with it. As you guessed, I have tons of pillows!
This old grain sack with red stripe is perfect on the old Chippendale sofa.
What to do with all our small collections? I have collected old Bauer flower frogs for years. This old battery jar is great for showing off your collections and keeping them contained in one place.
These old zinc containers looks good with cut succulents from the yard.
I decided to bring the Kantha outside to cover a small patio table. It definitely brings some color to the outdoor space. The reverse side looks great too.
